Sleep at The Mardale
With six bedrooms, all recently refurbished to a high standard and featuring locally sourced products, The Mardale Inn offers a great option to enjoy the Eastern Lake District along with the hospitality of a friendly community pub. We are a convenient 10-15 mins away from the Shap & Penrith M6 junctions (ideal for an off-the-beaten-track stopover en route to Scotland). Penrith Railway Station is 20 mins away by taxi or just a little longer by bike (see our new dedicated bike hub facilities).
To ensure the most comfortable night's sleep, all bedrooms are furnished with British made, luxury, pocket sprung HerdySleep® mattresses constructed with Herdwick Wool bought directly from Lake District upland fell farms at fair trade rates. Our bedroom carpets are also 100% wool based, manufactured within 100 miles of Cumbria, and again utilise wool from local Herdwick and Swaledale sheep. Our bathroom shampoos, soaps and conditioners are locally made in the Valley.
​In pub building, we offer four first floor bedrooms which were all newly refurbished in Spring 2023. Each room has either an en-suite or private bathroom. We also have two dog-friendly Annex bedrooms in Norbrock House, 75m from the pub and adjacent to our guest car park. These were fully refurbished in November 2023 and have shower en-suites. Dogs staying in these Annex rooms are subject to a £10 per stay cleaning fee. (Dogs should always accompany their well behaved owners into the pub for drinks and food!)
